Transport yourself back in time to the Medieval Town of Gawton, or at least as close as you can get just off the M11 at this annual Renaissance Fair Weekend. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, the streets are bustling with festival goers, medieval enthusiasts and anyone looking for the opportunity to dig a flagon of beer dressed as a wizard on a weekend out.

The weekend was set to end with its usual climactic event, the live jousting & battle reenactment. It seems someone has gone a little too medieval this year however, swapping the fake sword out that dealt the final blow for something much more deadly…
